From Psalm 18:1-3 “I will love thee, O LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.”
This short text includes no less than eight expressions that describe the refuge God provides for His people – rock, fortress, deliverer, my God, strength, buckler, the horn of my salvation and my high tower.
When we realize that God, the object of our worship, serves as such a place of refuge and safety, no wonder we too can say, “I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised.”
