The Hub of the Wheel

The apostle Paul wrote, “To live is Christ…..” Philippians 1:21. It is Christ that gives our lives purpose and meaning.

Sometimes people want to treat their lives like pie charts. A certain piece of the pie represents time allotted to their family. Another piece represents time given to their job.  Another piece represents time set aside for recreation. Finally, another piece of the pie represents the time they have devoted to God.

Perhaps it would be better to compare your life to a spoked wheel. One spoke represents time allotted to your family. Another spoke represents time given to your job. Another spoke represents time you have set aside for recreation. But here’s the real difference – Christ is the hub of the wheel where all spokes meet. He is at the center of all you do.

Jesus doesn’t want a piece of the pie; he wants the pie. Jesus doesn’t want to be a part of your life; He wants your life. No one can say it any better than the apostle Paul, “To live is Christ.”
