Emptiness Can Be a Very Good Thing!

Often, the word empty has a negative connotation.  An empty gas tank.  An empty bank account.  For some, even an empty tea glass.

But there was one time when emptiness was the best thing anyone could have imagined.

As the first day of the week after Jesus’ crucifixion drew near, Mary Magdalene, along with another Mary, came to look at Jesus’ grave.  I cannot imagine how they felt as they saw an angel sitting on the stone that had been rolled away from the grave opening.

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified.  He is not here, for He has risen, just as he said.  Come, see the place where he was lying.” Matthew 28:5-6.

I’m thankful for the empty tomb.  It assures me that I serve a risen savior.  I Corinthians 15:4. The empty tomb give me assurance that I will also one day be resurrected from the grave.  I Corinthians 15:50-58.

Sometimes, emptiness can be a very good thing!
