After Jesus fed a large crowd of people with only five loaves of bread and two fish he, along with his disciples, crossed the sea to Capernaum.
A crowd of people who had previously eaten the fish followed Jesus to Capernaum loking for Jesus.
When they found Jesus he responded, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you seek me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. Do not work for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you, for on him the Father has set his seal.” John 6:26-27.
Those who sought Jesus in John 6 are not unlike many today. They were seeking satisfaction and fulfillment in the physical things of this world. But their hunger for spiritual matters was lacking. Many today work hard to gather temporal things of this world – money, recognition, recreational activities, you name it. Yet these same people often fail to hunger for that which lasts.
What are you hungering for?
