Back to Jerusalem

In Luke 2:41-50, Jesus, while traveling, became separated from his parents. His parents thought he was with them (feelings can be deceitful – Proverbs 14:12). His parents looked for him among their relatives and friends (that’s still the wrong place to look for Jesus – Matthew 5:12-14).

Jesus’ parents did not find him until they went back to their starting point. Jerusalem. Today, if people want to be in company with Jesus, they need to go back to Jerusalem (figuratively, of course).

When we go back to Jerusalem in regard to salvation, we find out that we person must believe in the saving power of the blood of Christ, repent of our sins and be baptized in order to receive the forgiveness of our sins (Acts 2:37-38). When we go back to Jerusalem concerning the church, we discover that there is only one church. No one was added to any of the denominations that exist today (Acts 2:47). When we go back to Jerusalem in regard to doctrinal matters, we find out that we ought to adhere to those things the apostles taught (Acts 2:42). Man makes a costly mistake when he adds to or takes away from the scriptures. Looking for Jesus? Go back to Jerusalem.
