What are you after in life? What are you trying to accomplish? Wealth? A big income? Maybe a large house or a luxury car? Maybe it’s not stuff at all that you’re after. Maybe it’s status. To be recognized in your community as one of the movers and shakers? Or perhaps you’re wanting to climb the corporate ladder. Are any of these things what you are seeking in life?
Oh, I guess these things can provide some satisfaction, if only for a little while. But that’s the draw back to all of them – they are only temporary. They are all short lived. Nothing about them is lasting. When we give our attention to these things, our attention is taken away from what really matters. “If then you have been raised with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.” Colossians 3:1-2.
