I remember watching the cartoon with Wile E. Coyote and the roadrunner when I was young. The coyote’s name, Wile with the middle initial E., was a play on the word wily. That coyote consistently invented ways to catch the roadrunner. When one trap didn’t work, Wile E. was quick to try another.
The devil is a lot like that coyote. Ephesians 6:11 instructs us to put on the whole armor of God, that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Satan is wily. He’s tricky. He’s deceitful. He’ll try whatever it takes to get you to sin. Just like that Wile E. coyote, he’ll never give up.
If you watched the cartoon, you’ll remember that the coyote never did catch the roadrunner. And you don’t have to let Satan catch you. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7.
