“But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance, persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra—what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me. Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.” 2 Timothy 3:10-12.
It is not likely we will be persecuted to the extent those in the first century church were persecuted. It is not likely we will experience the threat of being put to death because of our faith, although some may in certain parts of the world.
Yet it is still true that all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. They may be ridiculed at the workplace, shunned by family and rejected by friends. But just as God delivered Paul through His persecutions, God will deliver us from ours.
