What Is Your Attitude as You Gather to Worship?

Have you ever thought about what your attitude ought to be as you gather with others to worship God?  I’m talking about what your attitude should be toward what you are about to do – come before an almighty, powerful, holy and just God in order to offer your worship to him.  Do you spend adequate time preparing for worship? No, I’m not talking about preparation to make sure you are physically present when Christians assemble.  Have you adequately prepared your mind to worship God?  Have you considered the seriousness of what you’re about to do and the respect it deserves? I’m convinced there are times we don’t really give as much thought to this as we should.

No one, not even God, wants our worship to be cold, rigid and free of emotion. But there is an equal danger of approaching an almighty, powerful, holy and just God too casually.  “God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about him.” Psalm 89:7.
