Some people enjoy camping in a tent.  Others, well, not so much. Whether or not you enjoy tent camping, or don’t enjoy it, you’re living in a tent.

“For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” 2 Corinthians 5:1.

Paul’s use of the word translated “tent” is a figurative reference to our physical bodies. It’s a very appropriate term to use, for our physical bodies are temporary in nature. A person’s body is a physical place in which his spirit may dwell while here on earth.

One day we will have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. Unlike a tent, Paul’s use of the word translated building denotes the permanent nature of our resurrected body. It will be an immortal body, not subject to death and decay. I Corinthians 15:51-54. One day, you will “strike your tent” and leave this earth. How much time do you spend planning for your departure?
