Be Sober, Be Vigilant

On July 25, 1911, Bobby Leach, a circus stuntman, went over Niagara Falls in a specially designed steel drum.  Because he did everything he could to protect himself from harm, he suffered only minor injuries. Several years later he stepped on an orange peel and broke his leg.  Gangrene set in and he died of complications.

Why? He wasn’t prepared for danger in what he thought was a safe situation.  Some of the greatest dangers around us may leave us unharmed while a seemingly insignificant incident may cause our downfall.

How so? We become careless and do not realize the danger around us, wrongfully thinking we are secure.

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” I Peter 5:8.
