There is One Hope

When I took calculus in school, it would have been foolish for me to say I hoped to make an A. Oh, the desire was there. But, if you had been in class with me, you would have known there was no realistic expectation of it happening. Likewise, it would have been foolish to say I hoped to make an F. Oh, the expectation of that happening was there, but obviously there was no desire to make an F.

That helps us understand something about Biblical hope. Doesn’t it?  When the Bible talks about a Christian having hope of heaven, it’s talking about much more than wishful thinking.  It’s talking a about strong desire coupled with a realistic expectation. The Christian desires heaven.  And he expects to be there because of what Christ has done for him. That hope is made possible when we properly respond to what Christ has done by repenting of our sins, confessing our faith in Christ, and then being baptized into Christ, where all spiritual blessings are found.

The hope of heaven.  That’s the one hope we read about in Ephesians 4:4.
