Death has often been called the king of terrors. It may very well be what men fear most. While men may be slaves to the fear of death, Christ’s death frees us from the bondage of fear. Hebrews 2:15.
Our sin, which is the sting of death, has been forgiven. I Corinthians 15:55-56. Death is the doorway to our being with the Lord. Philippians 1:23. It is a prelude to our receiving a glorious resurrected body. I Corinthians 15:35-50. Death is a pathway to entering heaven. Revelation chapters 21 and 22. No wonder the apostle Paul wrote, “To die is gain.”
Is death really the king of terrors? Well, for those who have not obeyed the gospel through their faith, their repentance, their confession of faith and their being baptized to receive forgiveness of their sins then yes, it really is the king of terrors. But those who have obeyed the gospel and are living a life of faithfulness to God have no reason to fear death.
