The Greatest Victory of All

The word victory can be defined as “the overcoming of an opponent, enemy or antagonist.” Political candidates celebrate their victory when they win an election. Sports teams celebrate their victory when they win a game. But none of these even begin to compare to the greatness of the victory we enjoy as Christians.

“So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:54-57.

By the blood of Christ, we enjoy victory over sin and its consequences. We enjoy victory over death and the grave. Friends, that gives us real reason to celebrate
