No Room for Selfishness in the Life of a Christian

Many of you may remember a slogan for a fast food restaraunt – “Hold the pickles, hold the lettuce, special orders don’t upset us, all we ask is that you let us serve it your way.” Not a bad slogan for a restaraunt. Always a good idea to let the customer have it his way.

Unfortunately, many people carry that attitude to other areas of life. Never considering others but always thinking “I want it my way.” The apostle Paul wrote, “Do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.” Philippians 2:4. Elsewhere Paul wrote “Love does not seek its own.” I Corinthians 13:5.

What do you want on your burger? Have it your way regardless of what others want on theirs! But in other areas of life, there is simply no room for selfishness.
