My People Are Destroyed for Lack of Knowledge

During the eight century BC Hosea prophesied to what had become corrupt Israel, warning them to repent.  Hosea said there was no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.  There was swearing, lying, killing, stealing and committing adultery.

Hosea 4:6 gives us, not only the cause of their problems, but the solution as well. “ My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.”

Israel’s problems came about because they had rejected knowledge of God.  The problems our country are experiencing today have been brought about in the same way – too many have simply rejected a knowledge of God.  The problems we are experiencing today can be resolved – but only when we got back to God and recognizing God’s word as the only standard of right and wrong that has any real, lasting value.
