In Exodus chapter 17, when Amalek fought against Israel, Moses told Joshua that he would go to the top of a hill with the staff of God in his hand. Exodus 17:8-16. When Moses held his hands up, Israel prevailed in battle. When Moses let his hands down, Amalek prevailed.
When Moses became tired and had difficulty holding his hands up Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side and one on the other. As a result, Joshua gained victory over Amalek.
Will you ever have an opportunity to hold up someone’s hands as they become heavy and tired? To literally hold them up? That’s doubtful.
But you can still hold up the hands of those who are struggling and tired. When someone is discouraged, hold up their hands by offering words of encouragement. When someone is troubled and needs to talk, hold up their hands by giving them a listening ear.
You may not ever be a Moses. But you can be an Aaron or Hur. You can hold up the hands of the tired and, in the end, you can both prevail.
